I am looking to increase my mobility and stability knowledge. I have learned a little bit about the Functional Movement Screen, but I want to see if that is truly the best route or if there is another course/certification worth looking at.
Having been FMS certified for a while now, I can say that it is very well worth pursuing. I do a Movement Screen on every client that starts a program at our facility. The feedback that the client gets is often eye-opening. Also, the functionalmovement.com website offers a variety of progressions for corrective exercises based on functional movement deficiencies presented in a Movement Screen.
But as others have stated, there are other great minds and certs out there when it comes to mobility and stability. You may want to check out Gary Gray (Gray Institute – “the GodFather” of functional training). Also Kelley Starrett has some good stuff out there (although his mobility approach is a little more aggressive).
