best gluteals training
Fiona,
There are several great ways to train your Gluteus muscles. As previously posted squats are great and there are several variations you can do. A few more personal favorites of mine are Fire Hydrants, Supine Planks, Hip extensions (donkey kicks), as well as band work doing lateral & sagittal hops are excellent for toning.

Squats are great yes. This depends on what you want to do with the gluteals will depend on what exercises and repitition scheme to follow. If you want strength low rep squats, lunges, hack squats, etc with higher weight. Tighter and rounder can also apply, but higher reps with more variations helps shape the gluteals better than just high resistance, low rep exercises.
I like to use ankle cuffs for work on the oft-ignored area (gluteus medius). This piece of equipment can also be used for targeting other posterior chain muscles by performing exercises such as hip extensions and leg curls.
