Best Exercises for Love Handles
Hi Martina. How about ‘one of the best?’ One of the best exercises for the excess body fat around the abdominal and oblique areas causing “love handles” would be aerobic or cardio exercise. By performing consistent aerobic or cardio exercise such as walking, jogging, running, biking etc., as PART OF a well-rounded and safely-designed exercise program, the love handles will begin to disappear. Of course ‘proper diet’ is a part of this total equation as well, but since you only ask about ‘exercise’ here, I am limiting my response to that topic.
As always, before beginning exercise the person (exerciser) should check with his or her physician to make sure that exercise is proper for them.
I hope that this helps.

Hi Martina,
I love this question! I agree with everyone…balance is key in order to reduce overall body fat %. I do, however, love this exercise and find great results…
Get a resistance band and step on it with feet about hip distance apart. Pull handles up to your waist and walk to the right for 8 counts and then to the left for 8 counts…break down to 4 counts, 2 counts and then side to side. You can also pendulum your legs to really burn those love handles!

You cannot spot reduce an area on the body. With that note, you have to perform high intensity interval training for about 20-30 minutes, and watch what you eat. Having a clean diet is the key. I always say 80% diet and 20% working out. So they both complement each other and this is how you will see results to burn the fat away. I do like to do side planks with my clients because it does help strengthen the core, and help support the lower back. Stay away from weighted side bends. I see too many people performing this exercise. It creates shear on the sacrum of the spine, which will create wear and tear, so avoid them at all costs.
