Are there any respectable one day or weekend Pilates certifications?
Quality of education is relative to the person entrusted to teach those who have the desire to learn and the knowledge base of the individual who wants to learn.
I have had the experience on several occasions of attending day pilates workshops to satisfy CEC requirements only to leave disappointed. However, I make the choice to continue to pay for that quality of workshop in order to maintain my credential. It doesn’t undermine my knowledge, though.
It is so very important to look at the education and credentials of the individual who is offering the workshop and not the company who the instructor represents, to find out whether the instructor is able to deliver the learning outcomes expected.
Remember there are no NCCA accredited pilates certification so I think it is imperative to understand what are you truly paying for.
I feel very strongly that if a fitness professional attends a weekend workshop in order to become “certified” he/she should have a solid understanding of human movement science as he or she will have to learn how to apply what they are being taught at the workshop rather quickly. That is of course if the instructor is knowledgeable and well-prepared. One hasn’t even considered implementing the practical application of what was learned over that one day or weekend.
Hope this gives you some direction.
