Generally, it is the same hourly rate, for the same chain of gyms. However, if it is a popular instructor and the gym has hired the instructor to boost membership, they gym will have to pay the instructor more than they pay their other instructors.

Gyms has operating budgets and generally operate within those limits.

In the gyms I’ve worked at you get paid the same regardless of the class you teach. Different gyms and venues pay different rates however 😉

In one studio I am paid less for circuit classes than spin classes. All of the classes are 45 min. to 1 hour, but because there is more prep time for spin classes, we get paid more.

I’ve heard pay is all over the place. Some Instructors at YMCA’s volunteer (0.00 per hour up to this place which is paying up to $500 a class http://www.indoorcycleinstructor.com/icipro-instructor-training/podcasts…
