Apps for personal trainers to track clients
I am looking for apps for the iPod touch to track my personal training clients’ progress. It would be nice to just carry around my iPod rather than a file folder & clipboard. I am NOT looking for apps that I would recommend to clients to keep track of their own progress/workouts. Any thoughts? Thank you.
I had a simular dilemma when I started my personal training business. Papers and files can easily become overwhelming. I eventually used numbers to create a template for a fitness assessment, which I would conduct once every two-four weeks. It would allow me to enter the information on my i-pad. Also, I could take all the data gathered and create a nice graph and presentation for my clients to show them the progress that they were making. If you are not familiar with Numbers, which is the apple version of Excel, you can schedule an appointment with a local Apple store to assist you. For individual sessions, I usually record general notes depending on the workout regimen, allowing me to adjust the workouts accordingly. If you are adamant about recording precise numbers for each exercise, I recommend using Jefit Pro. The website is www.jefit.com. You can create a user for each client. It also allows the client to easily record their own workouts, so you can hold them accountable. In addition, it automatically graphs all the data to see if the client is progressing.
Hope this information is helpful.

I also use the ‘Notes’ on my iPad to keep track of individual general outlines of my clients health, workouts, weight, etc. I like it because it syncs to my IPhone and Mac Book Pro, so no matter where I am I have access. Generally when with clients however, I use my IPhone since its more portable, which your IPod would be also.
The T-notebook is The Training Notebook app is pretty good. Like Angelique mentioned, you can take photos of clients to track progress, set-up new clients, and create custom programs for clients. It also has a training timer that’s really useful.
