Hi Dianne. I too am listed with this service but have not been too terribly impressed. It’s a bidding war, and you quite often have no idea exactly what it is that pushes the client one way or the other in deciding who to work with. I have more often than not, not even received a follow-up from any of these potential clients, but I guess that it’s a good way to at least be exposed to some potential new clients out there.
Good luck with this if you decide to go this route.
I have recently signed up under the recommendation of a friend. Like LaRue said it is a bidding war, but the site said they would only allow 3 trainers to bid on the training job.
I’ve only placed a bid on 4 and on 2 I was refunded my credit (money) as they give the potential client 48 hours to respond to your bid.
There is also a way to get credit and change your status from “Bronze” to “Silver” to “Gold” standing, by answering additional questions, updating your profile, pictures, etc.
I hope this helps and good luck!
I am listed on Thumbtack too, but not impressed. The leads you receive tend to be looking for the “cheapest” trainer and I don’t think a lot of them even follow through with hiring a trainer. It’s a cheap way to advertise, but I don’t think it is effective. However, if a lead contacts you directly you can submit a quote and response for free. So, I would stay listed but I wouldn’t rely on the leads they give you.
