Anybody familiar with MAT(muscle activation technique)?
I definitely believe MAT is an awesome tool in helping clients reach their full potential. It is a great skill to have when you are mid workout with a client and they are complaining of a specific pain, you have the ability to do a few tests and do a few quick palpations and get them back to their workout. The only negative I have experienced is that it can become all consuming in your thought process of client assessment. It is easy to find one thing going on with a client and before you know it you’ve spent the entire hour “working ON” them and they haven’t had a “work OUT”. Although this is sometimes necessary, in our opinion, we still have to remember that most clients want to see asthetic changes as well as better, more efficient movement.
It’s an intense course! Have fun!!
