Any thoughts or reviews on the FMS certification?
Hi! I was wondering if anyone out there has taken the functional movement screen certification course, and if so, if it’s something they have found useful?
Any reviews or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. There are so many certifications out there, I am a little wary and like to hear some opinions. Thanks!
Great resource for trainers! I learned it in college and have kept it in my toolbox since. It’s also useful to track your progress as a trainer to ensure your exercises are effective towards improving your clients’ movement patterns. Remember, not every assessment is appropriate for each client though (i.e. joint pain, injuries, conditions).
FMS is definitely NOT geared towards only athletes.
As far as quantitative assessment, well, that’s the point! It’s a screen that looks at QUALITY of movement – something that a ton of pros miss in their assessments.
Can’t recommend FMS highly enough. My perspective on movement has been forever changed – for the better!!
Read the book Movement, but the best idea is to attend a weekend seminar that includes level 1 (learning how to administer the mov’t screen) and 2 (corrective strategies). You might as well learn how to correct movement dysfunction once you find it!
