Any ideas for toddler/preschool aged physical play sessions in the group ex room?
Any ideas for structured play for toddlers in the group ex room? Not necessarily for fitness of course, but for a place for toddlers and their caregivers to come for physical play during cold winter months and/or INDOOR mommy and me fitness that is fun for both mommies AND little ones. e.g. can we use steps without risers as a balance beam, make some games with the swiss balls, etc. Ideas? Programs? Inspirations? Tips? Success with gym-based kids clubs in the group ex room?
Hello Megan Senger,
I would survey the participants for what they enjoy and would like to learn. Then I would find equipment sized for the toddlers and place it around the room to let everyone take turns using each station. That will give ideas of what to incorporate into classes.
How about relay races, crab walks, ladder drills, using jump ropes to map out shapes, etc.
You will want to see how the participants are with certain pieces of equipment to decide if that will be used again or if you will teach the proper form and safety.
You could also use dice and playing cards for the reps. of certain moves.
Do you have a large sheet or parachute to do the parachute exercises? Those are always a huge hit with children.
Of course, there are the Mom and me moves when Mom holds the child for resistance work.
You are going to have a great winter season.
Take care,
Natalie
