this is a question that you need to address to AFAA.
I also hold a certification from an organization which chooses not to be associated with IDEA. In that case, they approve the CECs but I have to go through a separate application process. However, it appears to me that the only requirement for their approval is the check that I am asked to write.
Hi Teresa. I agree with Karin. I hold a certification through AFAA and in cases where I take continuing education that is not listed as AFAA-approved, I need to petition AFAA for acceptance of the credit. Since that process is costly both in terms of your already having paid for and taken the course before requesting credit, you may wish to try to check-in with the AFAA Continuing Education Department BEFORE taking such course to see if you can at least get an understanding as to whether it is something that they would entertain.
I hope that this helps.
I appreciate your feedback everyone. It’s very costly to have to run between organizations whose goals, I believe, are the same — to provide good quality instruction and instructors and to provide information to keep us informed and educated. I will continue to pursue this with AFAA and hope they will begin to work together “ I just don’t want to have to go and retrain with another company since I’ve already done the training once.
Thanks again all. Stay safe, Stay well, stay Strong!!
