Your client would need to get in contact with a research facility or a really good gym that does metabolic measurements.
Another alternative would be to have someone measure your clients lactate levels with lactate meter. A lactate meter looks something like a glucometer with the difference being it measures lactate levels.

For a ‘field test,’ or a test that I can use for a large number of test-takers, I like to use the Beep Test. Easy to administer, requires minimal equipment, very inexpensive, and is easily retested for a later comparison of test results.
