Hi am a bit confused on the whole coaching thing. I would like to expand my knowledge but having a hard time deciding which route to go. I am a stay at home mom with a personal training cert. and working on aquiring all the head knowledge before i go out into the field. I would like to access people as whole, fitness, mindset, lifestyle, etc. I see there are wellness coaches, life coaches, and now I see ACE has a health coach certificate. I was also considering the ACE lifestyle and weight management coach. Any thoughts out there on which gives you the most info and freedom to work with peolple on all aspects of health.
The one thing that I like about Ace’s LWMC (now called Health Coach) is that they really focus on the psychology of weight management as well. Why do clients overeat? Why would clients rather chose a night on the couch as opposed to working hard towards there goals in the gym? What leads to clients to regress back into their old habits thus leading back to weight gain? All these questions and more are answered with varies tips in overcoming obstacles and avoid setbacks with the client, providing ways to insure a client can self manage and regulate their workouts on days they don’t work with you ( clients taking ownership in their program) and coaching them on making sound decisions when it comes to their nutrition. Psychology has a big play in things as a personal trainer. More than I had anticipated when I first started.
