Ace Health Coach Certificate
I am currently studying for the Health Coach Certificate and I am taking the test in March (the end of). I have now read the book twice and I am ordering the study guide (I hate that I don’t have it yet). I know the key is to study, study, study, etc. And apply what you know to practical everyday situations, etc. However I was wondering what you did or are doing to study for and ACE (yes, stupid pun) the test. It being I am a bit nervous about it I would like all the help I can get!! Does anyone have any great study techniques they swear by?
Hi Missy,
I have the ACE Health Coach certification, and the test was very challenging. I, too, had the manual and filled out the study guide. I believe I also bought a sample test, which is always helpful. If you go to the back of the manual, it will break down the percentage of areas that will be on the exam. If you find you are weak in one area, go back and review that again. I tried to go through my materials/chapters twice. I did not make flash cards, but for some people they do help.
The test is very little regurgitation and a lot of real life scenarios. So, know your material well and be able to apply it to real life situations. Also, one other suggestion when taking the exam is to make sure you complete each question as you go—don’t leave a question blank and then go back to it. You have the option to flag the question for review later, but answer it first. I found myself using up most of the time allowed before I hit submit, and having the test completed with nothing blank helped. I had time to go back and review (I don’t like multiple choice!). I did find that many questions came down to two good choices–that was the hard part!
Get a good night of rest before the exam and eat a healthy breakfast… Good luck and best wishes! Let us know when you pass!
