37yo M client with hereditary hypertension; Rx-induced lightheadedness. Workout suggestions?
Age: 37 years
Timeline of progress: February 12, 2014-May 12, 2014 (i.e, 3 months)
Starting wt: 262 lbs
Starting BP: 190/106
Current wt: 227 lbs
Current BP: 139/90
Diet: Low-sodium ABS Diet/DASH diet, no red meat, no extra K+.
Workouts: Daily walking (1.5-2mi).
Lost 35 lbs mostly through diet; reduced NA+ intake to 1500mg/day. Client suffers from RX-induced lightheadedness. I’d love to help him minimize this side effect and increase his workout load.
It sounds like your client needs to be re-evaluated by his physician & possibly have his medication adjusted to his new body weight – but that’s certainly his physician’s call. He definitely made some nice progress in those 12 weeks – great job by you! But there’s got to be a reason he’s getting lightheaded, and personally, I would want his physician to get to the bottom of that before I continued working with him – better to be safe than sorry. I hope everything works out & he’s fine.
