ACE Letter from Scott Goudeseune
Dear ACE Family,
As a nonprofit organization with a mission to get people moving, we believe that together with the over 65,000 ACE Professionals worldwide we can make a measurable impact on the physical-inactivity epidemic in this country and around the world.
In order to measure our impact, we produce a report each year detailing exactly how we put our mission into action, and I’m very pleased to announce that the 2016 report is complete. The full report is available at ACEfitness.org/ImpactReport, but I’m excited to share some highlights here.
The dedication of ACE Professionals like you was on full display in 2016, with ACE Certified Personal Trainers conducting approximately 34.5 million client sessions, and ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructors leading an estimated 2.8 million classes, with approximately 15 new and returning participants per class. These are astounding figures, and are certainly cause for optimism in turning the tide on the obesity epidemic.
From an organizational standpoint, we devoted a great deal of energy engaging with policymakers in Washington, D.C., and in state capitols across the country, advocating for legislation related to physical activity. Some of this legislation could directly benefit professionals like you by incentivizing physical activity and bringing exercise professionals and health coaches into the healthcare continuum.
To extend our mission impact, we collaborated with numerous like-minded organizations to both bolster our policy efforts and directly benefit communities of need. One collaboration we’re extremely proud of is with the YMCA, where in just 1 year more than 15,000 YMCA healthy living professionals have completed a foundations of fitness course developed by ACE.
We also continued to provide scholarship programs for military veterans and community-based organizations, funded independent research, produced science-based articles on training strategies, programs and trends, and, really, much more than I have the space to go into here.
I would encourage you to take a moment to look through the full report at ACEfitness.org/ImpactReport, and see how ACE, with your help, is making an impact throughout the world. And if you have any thoughts on where we should focus our efforts in 2017, please let me know at tellscott@ACEfitness. org or on Twitter @ACEOscott.
.
Now let’s get people moving.
