Learning Objectives

By the end of this corrective exercise specialty certificate course you will be able to:

  1. Employ a step-by-step process for conducting fundamental structural assessments that can be used with any client to identify structural deviations that may cause or contribute to chronic pain and/or injuries.
  2. Understand the root cause of a client’s pain and/or dysfunction by determining which muscles and soft tissue structures have been affected by structural deviations and movement dysfunction.
  3. Describe and explain the differences between three major types of corrective exercises: self-myofascial release, stretching, and strengthening and identify how and when to utilize, progress, and regress each of the three corrective exercise types when working with clients in chronic pain.
  4. Design corrective exercise programs that ensure maximum client participation and adherence by knowing what to do and not to do at each stage of the program design process to help clients reach their goals as effectively and efficiently as possible.
  5. Provide evidence of your understanding of structural assessment, functional anatomy, and corrective exercise program design through the successful completion of a series comprehensive multiple choice exams and a practical skills test.

Course Procedure

The estimated completion time for The BioMechanics Method Corrective Exercise Specialist course in its entirety is approximately 50-75 hours. There are five learning modules that must be successfully completed in order to receive your Specialist Certificate. Each module is numbered separately and broken into three components. You must complete the following tasks associated with each learning module in order to progress to subsequent modules:

  1. Watch the online videos. 
  2. Read the online materials and perform the various activities. 
  3. Complete the exams. 

How is my grade for this course determined?

In order to receive a passing grade and be eligible to claim your Corrective Exercise Specialist certificate, you must correctly answer a minimum of 70% of the exam questions. You may retake each exam as necessary until you pass for no additional charge. Once you pass all the exams you will receive your credential certificate verifying your status as a Specialist in The BioMechanics Method (TBMM-CES).

How long do I have to complete this program?

You have a maximum of twelve (12) months from your original date of enrollment to complete the program.

    Great course, excellent learning/study materials, provides the fitness professional with practical skills to confidently guide your clients through a corrective exercise program. As a Personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor I believe the TBMM program design and order of exercise progression will work in seamlessly with both exercise methods. It just makes sense!

This course has gave me confidence to work with my clients, and i highly recommend to everyone, because sometimes , even tho, you have a line of training, secuence to aliviate the pain, sometimes you are not sure if it is the right way!     I am very proud to have recently completed the TBBM course. This is both a wonderfully constructed course and amazingly effective method for assisting my clients in relieving their chronic musculoskeletal aches and pains. I love teaching the connectivity of the kinetic chain and the way the human body responds to misalignment. It is so gratifying to have a method that educates my clients as well as relieving them of their discomforts! After 20 years as a personal trainer,this course has brought me new energy and confidence I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a solid method for corrrective exercise and a supportive group back at the TBBM home office!
