Midget AA State Hockey Champions's Success Story
From the time I started working out in my small high school gym, it was clear to me that I had a passion for fitness. I enjoyed running track, playing football, and weight training. My parents got me my first set of plastic weights and a bench for Christmas at age 11, and at the time, I had no idea I would eventually end up owning my own fitness business. I would have never been where I am today if it weren’t for my mom and dad. I say this not because of the weights they bought me, but because of the lessons they taught me. They taught me work ethic, respect for others, love, and Christian values, and these principles shaped me into the person I am today.
As a young man, I became serious about staying fit. Working out in the gyms in the 80’s and 90’s, I learned what it took to get to the next level. Now years later, I have stuck with it and still love it to this day. While fitness has always been my passion, it wasn’t always my bread and butter. I was a tool maker by trade, but after a 21 year career in tool making, I began to realize the trade was dying in the Detroit area. Shops were closing down left and right, and I knew I had to make a career change soon.
With my passion for fitness, my new career path seemed like an obvious decision. I decided to make a go of it in the business of fitness, and never looked back. In 1998 and 1999, I started to study for my personal training certification. In 2000, I became a Nationally Certified Personal Trainer with the American Council on Exercise, World Instructor Training Schools, NASM Fundamentals, and Vicious Spin. Since starting The Fitness Expert Personal Training business, I have been involved in diverse types of training. The range of clientele that I have served over the years is as varied as students, housewives, CEO’s, and even doctors. Here is a listing of some of the types of specialized areas that I have trained clients in:
•Fitness Education for Children
•Pre and Post partum pregnancy workout
•Women during menopause fitness and nutrition
•Elder Physical exercise and nutrition (specialized)
•Student athletes in their off-season continuing strength training
•Post Operative rehabilitation patients
•Basic Military training for all services including Police Academy
One of my special accomplishments was training my son’s travel hockey team, which in that year became State Champions and then went to the quarter finals in National competition.
I support my clients by educating them, showing them a commitment to train, and a passion for helping people reach their goals. I have learned a lot over my years of experience, but I am also very dedicated to continuing my education. I enjoy studying the latest research in fitness, nutrition and wellness, which helps me to better serve my clients through The Fitness Expert Personal Training.
