Michelle's Success Story
It seems only fitting that I post my story to the success page. It's difficult to view myself as a success since I'm always trying to improve myself through education and hard work, but it does help to know where I've been and how far I've come. Believe me when I tell you that I am NOT special. If I can accomplish this ANYBODY can!
Weight has been an issue all my life. My mom and her mom both struggled with it and tried every fad diet available. I was eventually initiated into the cycle as well. We attended weight loss meetings once a week and would binge after weigh in night. You only had one night so why not hit 3 fast food restaurants and the corner store? After years of abusing her body, my mom passed away at the very young age of 42. I was 17.
At 20 I married the most wonderful man in the world and by 23 I was a mom of 2 children; and I weighed over 235 pounds. I should have been happy, but didn't even have the energy for that! I didn't know who I really was or what my purpose in life was meant to be.
Through a series of events, I became certified as a fitness instructor.
My heart lifted and my mind began to grasp the true fact that my fate had not yet been sealed and that I could make a difference. I tossed junk food out of my diet completely. I immersed myself in trainings and nutrition classes. More importantly I found myself. The me that had a purpose. The me that had a strong voice.
Everything began to unfold naturally. My husband and kids adapted quite well to the new way of eating. To this day my 11 and 8 year olds give nutrition lectures to their friends about why they shouldn't be eating at McDonalds! I became a personal trainer through NASM and started a business dedicated to educating others about the power that they hold within themselves. I run several bootcamps a year covering all genres of exercise and focusing on healthy nutrition and healthy body image. I have a dream of taking this philosophy farther and even speaking at schools and businesses.
I have been given a purpose. I had to go through the valley to really appreciate the mountain peaks. My Mom never got the chance to see her kids married or even think about grandkids. I am here to give myself, my family, and anybody who will listen a better shot at a better life. I wake up every day restored with the energy to aspire to inspire others. Setting an example to help others reach their full potential.
Fitness has completely changed my life. All for the better. To date I have lost 100 pounds. It's more than a number though. I have energy to outrun my kids any day. I have the energy to live life to the fullest. That's what it's all about :)
That's the short story! Stay tuned for all the info on what works and what to avoid!
