Growing up I had the opposite problem of most people; I had a lot of trouble putting and keeping on weight. At 5 foot 9, I graduated high school weighing about 130 pounds. After being the skinny kid for so long, I wanted to change that going into college. So I sat down and made a goal: To gain 15 lbs. of muscle within a year and to start eating 2 servings of fruits and vegetables daily.

Prior to making my goal, I was your typical teenager - I played sports and ate a lot of junk food and fast food. I decided to cut all fast food from my diet so I could get serious about my goal. Since then, I have not eaten at any fast food restaurants like McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, etc.

Obtaining my goal was anything but easy! I am like the majority – when I start something new, I want to give in and quit, and I want to deviate from my goal when temptation looms overhead. However, I was successful at fighting those temptations and urges because my desire to succeed was much greater!

After several months of eating healthy and pushing my body to its limit with weight training, I started to notice substantial results. Seeing the change in myself and getting compliments from friends and family, I decided to educate myself more about fitness and health and figure out how I could help others transform their lives. I had gained over 20 lbs of lean muscle that year and felt great about myself. I was inspired to help others so I became a personal trainer and registered nurse!
