“Dear Naledi,
I have been doing your beach class since July, and it really helped prepare me for my first race, the Rock and Roll Marathon on August 2nd. I have another race this weekend, and the sand workouts were key in my leg conditioning the past few weeks. Now that the class is over I have been trying to figure out what to do to incorporate a sand workout every week. It only takes 1 sand workout to keep my legs toned and ready for long distance running! Oh, and I typically run hills with my coach before the beach workout on Saturdays. I wear a heart monitor for the running and also for the Flirty Girl beach workout. I’ve noticed that my heart rate during the sand workout is exactly the same (really high – 170) as it is during my hill running – that’s the most intense cardio I do all week. I know I must be burning 500 calories during the Flirty Girl beach workout, just based on my heart rate.”
