I Felt too Old and Out of Shape
Janice's Success Story
I am thrilled to write a letter of recommendation for Tiffany, who was my trainer when I was a member of Walden Wellness. I originally joined Walden Wellness because there was a great yoga program. I began to ask the owners about personal training, and they recommended that I join a boot camp class being offered by Tiffany. Initially I laughed, saying that there’s no way I’d be able to participate in that kind of class. Gradually, after class I heard other members talking about this great boot camp class and I became curious listening to them. One of the women said to me that she thought I’d like it and that it wasn’t what I thought it would be in my head. I felt too old and out of shape at that time (I am 51 years old). I was encouraged enough by the other woman to give it a try. I was intimidated until I met Tiffany and realized how easy she was to connect with.
Within moments I was really moving in the class. At first pushups seemed overwhelming, and I was given handles to try and introduced to modifications. I quickly learned a new language filled with comic book character names (Spiderman, Superman, rock -climber“). For months I would need to feel deathly ill as the only excuse to miss the 6:00 am classes. Whenever there were moments that I felt unsure about a move, Tiffany would provide quick attention and offered modifications as needed. Gradually, I felt energy like I hadn’t known before. I would leave boot camp class upbeat and happy to face my work -day. My co-workers became alarmed by my energy boosts! One of the great lessons Tiffany taught me was to listen to my body; if it was too much then stop. She liked to say that it was her job to push and my job to know when to stop. I seldom felt pain or muscle fatigue following these workouts, even though they were by far the hardest ones I’d ever done. Tiffany also gave great nutritional tips during our workout times. Her class was one of the best I’d ever been to, and I would still be going now if it weren’t for the sudden closure of Walden Wellness. We had our last class during the final hours of Walden closing. She is an upbeat, and amazing person and trainer, who is willing to go full force to meet individual needs of clients.
