Despite increased cycling and dieting, I was not achieving my desired results, either in increased strength or weight loss. I decided to give the testing a try. The testing gave me numbers that indicated I had a much lower resting metabolic rate than I had thought. Understanding the numbers enabled me to know what level I needed to work at in order to increase my endurance and strength on the bike. I finally saw the results I needed: a 28 pound weight loss and a much higher VO2, and a broader aerobic base. I was impressed with my improved numbers, which indicated a real improvement in my overall fitness during a four month period.
