My first step toward running a marathon was your ChiRunning lesson in April. At that time I was struggling just to complete a Team NorthShore 8 mile run.
From that first lesson and throughout the summer months, you coached me on the ChiRunning focuses of breathing, body sensing, and a mindful approach to running. My ability to comfortably run longer distances progressively increased and I remained injury-free throughout the summer and into the fall as we got closer to fulfilling my personal goal of completing the Chicago Marathon in October.
Before I knew it I was at the starting line of the Chicago Marathon, feeling confident and ready to take on the 26.2 mile challenge! Your coaching and ChiRunning led me to one of the most exhilarating and rewarding accomplishments of my life - completing my first marathon! I was able to comfortably run across the finishline and enjoy the entire incredible event. And I was injury-free and pain-free in the days after the marathon, too!
