Wayne L. Westcott, Ph.D., directed fitness research programs at the South Shore YMCA in Quincy, MA for more than 25 years. In 2006, he developed an Exercise Science Major at Quincy College, where he now teaches and conducts strength training research studies. Wayne has been a strength training consultant for numerous organizations, including the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force, the American Council on Exercise, the YMCA of the USA, and Nautilus. He has authored/co-authored 25 books/textbooks, and more than 60 peer-reviewed papers. Wayne has served as an editorial advisor, reviewer, writer, columnist for many publications, including The Physician and Sportsmedicine, ACSM’s Health & Fitness Journal, ACSM’s Certified News, ACSM’s Current Sports Medicine Reports, Fitness Management, On-Site Fitness, Perspective, Prevention, and Shape. He has been a keynote speaker for national meetings of the American College of Sports Medicine, the American College of Nutrition, the National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association, Harvard University School of Medicine, and Creighton University School of Medicine. Wayne has served on the Executive Committee for the New England Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine, as well as on the Advisory Boards for the International Association of Fitness Professionals, and the International Council on Active Aging. He has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Association of Fitness Professionals, the Healthy American Fitness Leader Award from the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Governor’s Committee on Physical Fitness and Sports, the Alumni Recognition Award from the Pennsylvania State University, and the Marla Richmond Memorial Education Award from the Medical Fitness Association.
