Timothy J. Moore, Ph.D., C.S.C.S., M.C.H.E.S., is a health and fitness consultant with over 30 years of experience, having worked with private corporations, government agencies, health care organizations, and educational institutions, among others. Dr. Moore has provided education, research, and a variety of services to clients in the areas of sports medicine, industrial medicine, health promotion/wellness, and fitness. His capabilities include needs analysis and feasibility studies; facility design and layout; program planning, implementation, and evaluation; staff recruitment, training, and supervision; exercise testing and prescription; the creation of workshops, seminars, and health education classes; financial planning and budget management; and marketing and promotion. He has worked with organizations such as the American Association of Retired Persons, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, District of Columbia Public Schools, Drug Emporium, Group Health Association, HealthSouth Corporation, Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, Los Angeles Avengers, Maryland Department of Transportation, Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute, Suburban Hospital, U.S. Department of Treasury, Washington Bullets, Washington Warthogs, and the YMCAs of Metropolitan Washington. He holds a Masters degree in exercise physiology and a Doctorate in health promotion both from the University of Maryland. He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, as a Gold Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise, as an Exercise Test Technologist from the American College of Sports Medicine, as well as being a Master Certified Health Education Specialist. As a personal coach and trainer, he has worked with nationally ranked junior athletes, collegiate All-Americans, top professionals, and world champion senior competitors, as well various other clients including entertainers, executives, government officials, and medical professionals. As an athlete, Dr. Moore has participated in two of the toughest events in sports including competing in the decathlon while at the University of Maryland, as well as having qualified for the Tri-Fed/USA National Amateur Triathlon Championships later in his life. His articles on health and fitness have been published in such diverse publications as Fitness, and the scientific journal The Physician and Sportsmedicine. He also has worked on books for top publishing houses such as Pocket Books and Human Kinetics. Features on Dr. Moore have appeared in People magazine and USA Today, as well as on television's Nightline and Good Morning America. He also served as the on-air health and fitness correspondent for the CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C., helping produce segments for Broadcast House Live, an hour long lifestyle show. In addition, his Ask Dr. Tim Internet column has been seen by millions each month on Weider Publications’ fitnessonline.com. Finally, Dr. Moore has served on the Personal Trainer Exam Committee for the American Council on Exercise, as a judge for the National Aerobic Championships, as a Fitness Editor for Shape magazine, as a member of the Advisory Board for the American Running and Fitness Association, and as a consultant to companies such as Reebok and Polar Electro heart rate monitors, as well as appearing in national ad campaigns for manufacturers like Nordic Track. Finally, Dr. Moore was honored by being named to the Millennium Edition of the prestigious Who’s Who in the World.
