I founded Sommet Fitness located at Bell/ 101 in 2007 and recently opened our 2nd location Sommet Pilates & Yoga Lincoln/Scottsdale, Arizona.
For over 20 years, I have been helping people reach their goals for better function, greater fitness, and an overall sense of well being. My philosophy is concentrating on core strength and stabilization. This integrated training approach complements the body – makes it more functional and improves its appearance. Im a certified ACE Personal Fitness Trainer. I was a champion in body building in 1989, earning titles in the “Super Body Fitness” and “Mr. Philippines” competitions in the 1990’s.

Presently, I am a Stott-certified Pilates Instructor. I specialized in spinal stabilization and corrective exercise.

My main emphasis is on safety and function, specialized on clients with back pain.

My Pilates story begins after externally reaping the fruits of intense bodybuilding and power lifting regimen but internally my body was straining to keep up with me. One of my spinal vertebrae finally gave out and acquired a condition called spondylolisthesis. It was the injury that made me realize I'm going the wrong path; this was my moment of clarity. I began to search for other methods of training that will not be detrimental to my health. I did my research and discovered Pilates and began doing rehab on my back, It was the perfect choice for me. I realize that Pilates was filling the gap of years of strength training and bodybuilding that had left the main gap of core strength and spinal stabilization. I learned that Pilates integrates one's entire body as one. I went through the 500 hours of STOTT Pilates instructor training program . My mission now is helping people who are suffering from back pain. I used the Pilates methodology as an alternative from pain medications and surgery.

"Steve you are the greatest!  After five years I still enjoy our twice-a-week physical and mental therapy sessions!  Ha.  Seriously, I'm proud of what I've achieved  in strength and endurance.  No more steriod shots for my weak back & my knees are almost like new due to your personally designed regimen for me.  THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!"

For over two years I have been under the fitness guidance of Steve Vicera at Sommet Fitness. I originally started working with Steve prior to my daughter's wedding. My goals were to lose weight, re-shape my body and gain core strength. Through strength training exercises, mat and Reformer Pilates and cardio workouts I have achieved a much more firm and toned body. Steve has extensive training and knowledge and the ability to help all who enter his studio. His patience is vast and he is always ready to adjust or modify movements in order to achieve the necessary results. I cannot praise him enough or recommend him more highly. If you wish to have a well functioning body in the best shape it can be in, Sommet Fitness is the place for you. Andrea K., Scottsdale, AZ

I've been a client of Steve's for more than 4 years now. I have injuries to various joints, and Steve knows my limitations and he knows when to push me. His gentle (but insistent!) demeanor makes working out a pleasure. Steve has a vast mental inventory of exercises at his disposal, so when I am experiencing a "bad day" with one of my joints, he can always offer me an alternative move to accomplish the same effect without further stressing my injury. He is keenly aware of how the body works, and as a result, I trust Steve implicitly to keep me functioning to the best of my ability.

Sarah Bradley I still refer to how I learned so much from watching Steve train. He takes his time to really make clients understand movements and how the body works. I was and am inspired by his training.

Beth Southworth Steve gently pushes you to a level you won't get to on your own. He does so in a gentle and refreshing manner which most trainers cannot do. And, I feel 2" taller after working out with Steve
