During my late teens and early 20s, the time you are the most active in your life, I had the worst health in my life. I had knee surgery in my freshman year of high school, due to the rare disease of unknown etiology. I was not able to do any physical activities for three years.

After I recovered from the disease, I suffered a herniated lumbar disc for four years. After a long struggle with disc herniation, I decided to regain a normal level of activity, however, it was not so easy at all. I joined the gym and imitated others around me. After a short time I injured my elbow.

I was ignorant about the resistance training. I didn't know I couldn't do the same resistance exercise every day. This was about 20 years ago. Since then I have studied about exercise, nutrition and anything health-related. I improved my overall health through a trial and error process. Working out and gaining knowledge of exercise has become my hobby. Eventually I resolved to change my hobby into a professional career with 24 Hour Fitness.

    Starting a workout program is easy - I've done it many, many times. The problem, of course, is sticking with it, which I never did, even when I had a trainer. Until I started working with Naoto. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and never resorts to the boot camp-like barking that's a hallmark of trainers who substitute attitude for a real understanding of what works for a client. Naoto won me over with his intelligence, sincere demeanor and then with the results - I've never in my life felt as strong or toned. My only problem with Naoto is that I didn't start working with him 20 years ago. -- Here is how much his training means to me: I travel from Pasadena to the 24 Fitness in WeHo twice a week through traffic just for sessions with him. There are three 24 Fitness in Pasadena, alone and many more in the vicinity. But they don't have Naoto, so I do the commute. Highly, highly recommended.

    Naoto is an amazing trainer. He is mature, dependable, and truly interested and engaged in his work. His knowledge of how the human body works is impressive. Naoto stands out from other trainers in that he is extremely attentive to detail. He is always focused on my maintaining the correct form. He is also mindful of any injuries I have and he takes that into consideration when choosing which exercises to do. Naoto also varies the exercises I do, and so I never get bored. He consistently challenges me to get to the next level. I now do the stability ball exercises he demonstrates in his video. It took many months of practice and training to be able to do them, but it’s been worth it. The stability ball work has not only strengthened my core, but it’s been a huge confidence booster to be able to successfully do these exercises.

    I started working out with Naoto after going to the gym for eight years with little results. I overheard him advising a client one day about leg exercises. I was very impressed with his knowledge of training techniques and his ability to demonstrate different exercises. I signed up for training with Naoto and he immediately started focusing on my form and explaining the importance of good form to avoid injury. For the last 3 years, I have consistently worked out with Naoto because he is committed to teaching me a wide array of exercises, which has kept me interested and excited about working out, and he explains the benefits of each. The greatest thing about working out with Naoto is that he is a total professional and really knows training, but I never feel intimidated. Instead, it feels like with every workout I am benefitting from his dedication to his field. I recommend Naoto on a regular basis.

    Over the years I have had several previous trainers. Even though some of them could rival Naoto’s knowledge and expertise, none them were a match for his professionalism. Keeping a client motivated and engaged is one of the greatest challenges for any trainer. Naoto does this not only with his extensive knowledge and experience, but most importantly with his focused attention throughout each session. He watches his clients closely, corrects when necessary, and is always supportive. He is very detailed and catches every nuance. So I particularly appreciate his vigilant attentiveness.

    There are many competent trainers out other, but conscientiousness, diligence, and mindfulness are traits that are in short supply in our increasingly distracted and distracting work environment. Naoto embodies these qualities. He is a top notch expert trainer as well as a genuine seasoned professional. He loves what he does and has the perfect character and temperament for this career. 24 Hour Fitness is very fortunate to have him on staff.
