I became a personal trainer 3 years ago and has since specialized in women’s fitness. Prior to becoming a trainer, I was a member of the US Sailing Team. As a member of the team I took an interest in the areas of fitness programming and form, interval training and weight management and was able to learn from the team’s coaches and trainers. Unfortunately, after leaving competitive sailing I had a rough transition from being a full time athlete and did not put the knowledge to good use, gaining over 60 pounds. High cholesterol, a body fat of 44% (and her upcoming wedding) led me to finally put what she knew to good use and lose 70 pounds and at the same time get her training certification. I love personal training because every client is different and it is rewarding to find the right program for the client whether their goal is to run a marathon, lose the extra 5 pounds hanging around or to come back from a knee injury.
