Hi and welcome to my profile. My name is LaRue. I am a certified trainer, wellness professional and sports performance coach. I work with a wide-variety of clients, representing all fitness levels and presenting with a myriad of health and fitness goals. I work with a wide-variety of clients, representing all fitness levels and presenting with a myriad of health and fitness goals. I am the former Director of Wellness and Fitness at a local College, have served as a Fitness Director for a large corporate fitness facility, and have worked with a number of companies (large and small), home owners associations, and community recreation facilities in improving the health and fitness of their employees, residents and constituents. I have also worked with a number of female athletes at the middle school, high school, college and adult levels in helping them improve their strength, sports performance, and reduce their risk of injury through my effective and well-designed strength and conditioning programs. I am a Participating Provider to over 20 health insurance companies, which translates to an immediate discount to you if you hold a valid insurance cards from the participating companies. I have dedicated my 17+ years of training, writing and research to helping females of all ages, sizes, shapes and fitness levels achieve their health and fitness goals, whether they be related to sports performance or to general health and wellness. I hold certifications as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, Certified Personal Trainer, Sports Performance and Injury Prevention Trainer, and Youth Conditioning Specialist. I am PASSIONATE about helping you, my client achieve whatever fitness and health-related goals you have set for yourself. My work in the field of exercise, fitness and health has led to my authoring dozens of articles for several health and fitness publications. In 2004 I was selected for the distinct honor of being one of only two Certified Personal Trainers in the United States to sit on the Board of Examiners for the National Board of Fitness Examiners. In 2009 I authored a Continuing Education course for the International Sports Sciences Association. Authoring and publishing these types of pieces is my way of connecting and educating people that I might not otherwise reach. I also love to teach, and I am an Adjunct Professor of Strength and Conditioning and Youth Fitness at a local community college in my area. I have served on a local county's Subcommittee on Childhood Obesity. Helping others become or stay healthy is what I am passionate about! My style of training can be characterized as FUN but CHALLENGING. I have been obese my entire life, and was over 100+ overweight when I began working with LaRue. I was nervous and didn't know what to expect. I had always believed that a professional trainer was more interested in working with professional athletes than overweight women. Plus, I had seen personal trainers at work in local gyms, and they just seemed robotic and cookie cutter in their approach. I was very fortunate to find LaRue. He was very respectful and made me feel very comfortable, which was greatly appreciated as I was already extremely self-conscious about my body. He carefully evaluated my fitness level and created a program that considered both my capabilities and limitations. The routines and programs he developed for me changed many times over the course of our partnership, as I steadily improved my fitness level and lost 92 pounds. Best of all, I had a lot of fun in the process, as LaRue has a natural ability to relate to people of all ages and walks of life; loves helping others to achieve their goals; and has an infectious positive energy that makes you WANT to succeed.
