My name is Kristen Merrill and I’ve worked in the fitness industry for over 20 years an ACE-certified Group Exercise Instructor and Personal Trainer, and STOTT-trained Pilates Instructor. My company, Building Better Bodies, is focused on just that, enhancing functional fitness for daily living and building a strong foundation for a healthy and vibrant future. I personally see myself as in the transformation and longevity-building business; and in my personal training and Pilates sessions, corporate programs, and my “Balanced Boot Camps” I address the specific needs of all my clients whether they are post-rehab patients, sedentary office workers, pre- and post-partum women, prime-timers, or athletes.

I am not about a simple fix, but see wellness as a journey that encompasses fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle choices, and I help educate, motivate, and train my clients along the way. Unlike other trainers or coaches that just count reps and yell words of encouragement, I want to make sure my clients are “getting it” both physically and mentally. As my client, I won't just make you lift weights, but teach you how to feel your muscles contracting. Won’t just make you jump, but to think about how you are landing. Won't make you run if you can't stand tall. Won't make you diet, but make you think about the quality of your food choices. It’s this personal touch that I bring not only in my one-on-one sessions, but to my group workouts (that I call “Balanced Boot Camps) and my corporate wellness trainings. I want my clients to be strong and vibrant; to be able to tackle the day without fatigue or pain; to look beyond their previously held beliefs about their physical limitations; and…to be proud in their journey.

    i hate exercising but kristine makes it tolerable, and she always checks on me to make sure i have the proper soreness.

    Kristen is so much fun to work with! Her love of fitness is contagious. She is patient and silly in bootcamp and has a knack for noticing and remembering everyone's individual weaknesses and challenges. She offers personalized advice throughout the class and adjusts the routine to challenge you while making sure you're safe. Kristen has the unique quality of humility which makes newbies and beginners feel comfortable.

    I have been taking boot-camp classes with Kristen for almost a year. She has worked on my weak areas and made me a stronger and healthier runner. She is tough and strong, but totally approachable, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. Her classes are fun, but are an incredible workout. I wholeheartedly recommend her!

    I've attended Kristen's boot camps, starting out as a 52-year-old guy who'd never attended a hard-core training group before, and I can say without hesitation that Kristen not only got me in much better shape but (and this is hard to admit) I actually enjoyed it! I don't know anyone with more depth of understanding of the fitness process than Kristen. Plus she's a really nice person!
