Thi... moreInstead of a boring list of my certifications (which will of course come later), I figured I would instead give you a brief overview of WHO I am. I was always a "fat" kid. The clothing size 14 (plus),was my normal "size". I was never comfortable wearing anything that didn't "hide" my body. This continued well into my late 20's... I was still (in my mind), considered very overweight. Through coutless yo-yo dieting and a few fitness video tapes here and there, I would drop weight and then proceed to put it right back on. Eating was an escape for me - I used it in times of stress and depression. After many years of this, something amazing finally happened; I discovered the wonderful world of Les Mills Group Fitness. After being a humble "participant" for a couple of years, and seeing AMAZING results, (I had already dropped a couple of dress sizes), I was convinced by my favorite instructor to take a training to become a Les Mills Body Pump instructor. Now this was a HUGE step for me as I had never been into any sort of sports or fitness growing up. In fact, I was the kid who always tried to find new ways to escape the horrors of P.E. class. But here I was, teetering on my early 30's being convinced by this AMAZING coach and mentor that *I* could one day be doing what she was doing. Huh?? Well - I took the leap. With much sweat, many tears and lots of determination, I DID it. (back in February of 2007). I have, since then, added several other Les Mills programs to my certifications, along with my A.C.E. Personal Training certification. The PT cert came only after LOTS of convincing (by my wonderful best friend and partner), and being completely disgusted with corporate America. I was fed up with the feeling of my soul being sucked out of my body, and being confined to a cubicle. This huge step outside of the "easy desk job" comfort zone took a great deal of hard work and lots of patience. I don't regret ANY of it, nor do I look back. I have a whole new outlook on life and living and I am at a place I never dreamed I would be. You can be too! less
