Chris Giesking started as an intern personal trainer at Life Time Fitness in Eagan, Minnesota in December 2003. While Chris was at lifetime, he was known for group weight training classes and coaching techniques that were outside the box. In Late 2005, Chris’s Army National Guard unit was being deployed to Iraq for one year. Chris volunteered to go and had plans to come back and continue working as a trainer at Lifetime Fitness, but during the deployment to Iraq his unit was extended making the deployment 22 months long. So in late 2007, Chris finally returned to personal training and created his own company Purpose Driven Fitness. Chris was amazed by all of his clients that continued to train with him after the long time away. With a new zest for life, it is evident how Chris motivates his clients with an attitude of “you only get one life, make it your best.” Staying in the National Guard, Chris took on the challenge of Army Ranger School, pulling him away from his clients again, but completing the course and bringing back a very valuable lesson. Never quit, no matter what and believing in yourself even if you fail a few times. Don’t give up, just keep going. Events in life build character and Ranger school was another building block for Chris.

Chris prides himself on continuing education and improving his knowledge for his clients. Chris has further developed himself completing a Masters Degree in Kinesiology and several personal training certifications. One major certification called; Functional Movement Systems is the staple in which Chris bases all of his programs. FMS is a leader the industry and considered the gold standard for fitness coaches and athletic trainer’s world wide. The FMS system is a method of analyzing movement and finding the weakest link. The weakest link is often an old injury and needs to be rehabilitated back to good working order. Knowing this, Chris is also a Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist who integrates both injury rehab and general conditioning.

    After 7 months of trying to cope with 6 herniated discs throughout my back and neck, I had exhausted all of the so called back miracles, doctors suggestions, pain specialists, neurologists, injections, and gadgets I could find. In a desperate search for something else, anything else, I found a trainer who recommended I work out with Chris. On the first day I showed up with over 30 pounds of extra weight from my back injury, a spine that could tolerate almost no weighted pressure, and a half bent over posture. As a former athlete, I was going crazy not being able to function. As a parent, I was desperate to be able to take care of my kids, but unable to lift, bend, stand, or sit for more than a few minutes at a time. Within a month of working out with Chris 3 times a week, I was standing straighter and able to perform more everyday tasks. But, as with any back injury, flare ups, a nasty fall on the ice, and new herniations from genetically weak discs made me a challenging client. Chris adjusted my workouts with each turn of events and my progress was steady and tangible, no matter what setbacks I faced. Even with my limited activity level I was able to drop 20 pounds and lots of inches getting back to my pre-injury condition. At 10 months after starting my workouts with Chris, I have undone so much damage to my body, learned how to prevent further injury, regained strength, hope and a belief that I can recover from what was once called by a neurosurgeon, a hopeless condition with no cure. I am so fortunate that my web search led me to G-Fit, and I have been so impressed with Chris’s knowledge that I place my trust in him for both my own health and fitness needs as well as my lacrosse team that I coach. I would recommend him highly to anyone who is looking for personalized care, real results, to someone who may be recovering from an injury, or who might be considering surgery and would like an alternative.     Adam (15) is an active hockey player, golfer and all around sports kid. Back pain had never slowed him down, but things were beginning to change with his growth. He was diagnosed with a defect in his L5 and a 10% slip in his vertebrae and had begun to experience lower back pain on a more frequent basis It was recommended to us by his orthopedic doctor to begin a rigid “core strengthening” program with the hopes of eliminating the pain and having him maintain a solid core for “life” and avoid surgery. We found Chris Geisking through a friend’s referral. Adam has been working with Chris twice a week since June of 2011 and has shown impressive marked improvement. Chris has a great way of motivating Adam to the point where Adam wants to do his exercises at home on his days off! Chris also engages Adam verbally through discussion to make sure Adam knows how to overcome his pain if he begins to experiencing any. Adam has not experienced any back pain since about 6 weeks after he began training with Chris, his complaints are now far and few between. Chris understands Adam’s defect, and knows just how to train him. Chris always makes sure Adam’s body is responding in a positive way during training and will adjust or modify as needed. Chris calls me (mom) frequently to update me on his progress and keeps me informed of what has transpired. Adam’s Ortho doctor recently saw him and was impressed that he had grown 2 inched since our last visit and his x-rays were stable! – The Ortho complimented Adam and said that he felt whatever training was taking place was working and we should continue doing what we’re doing! We hope to have Chris work with Adam as a long time client! We couldn’t have found a better match! - Adam

    I met Chris January 2003. On this day, it was my 1st day working out with my friend Jill. We had decided to start working out together because we needed to lose some weight. It had been awhile that we had used any kind of weight machines. We really didn’t know what we were doing but felt that was okay because we were having fun!! We had been approached by 2 or 3 personal trainers during this time, however, we told them that we were not interested. Then I looked across the gym and saw this guy wearing a baseball cap sitting on a weight bench- just observing. When this guy looked at us- he looked at us in a way that I will never forget. You see, I had gained a few pounds over the years. I knew what I looked like in College but after being married and having children~ I had a very low self image. But when this guy looked at me- he looked through my outward appearance and saw the person that I was inside- the person who had been “lost” all those years. He approached us and introduced himself as Chris Giesking. He was a personal trainer. We talked and he worked out a plan for both Jill and I to work out together at a “group” rate. It was perfect. Chris is not like any other trainer- Believe me when I say that I have met a few over the years! Chris is more than just a trainer in a gym. He believesin you when you don’t even believe in yourself! He listensand he cares! He will tell you how it is regardless if you like it or not. He’s always encouraging and he drives results. One of the many things that I have learned from Chris is this: Exercising is not just a once in awhile activity…. It is a Lifestyle! And that is what I strive to meet every day.
