To give you a back story: I was in my freshman year of college working for an associates degree in Baking and Pastry when I got bit by the fitness/health bug. The freshman fifteen had slowly crept up on me without me even realizing it. I found myself huffing and puffing up stairs on the way to class and the button on my chef pants would pop if I exhaled too hard. Before I knew it I had packed on 25 pounds. Right then and there I decided that enough was enough so I bought my first workout DVD, Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones. I was hooked. After that I sought out every DVD I could get my hands on and when I hit a plateau I joined a gym. That's when my passion really took off. I've always wanted to make a difference in the world but was never quite sure how to do that until I started observing fellow members in the gym. I noticed that some were clueless with technique while others looked really intimidated or even embarrassed. To me, the gym is a place where you go to get healthy and to have fun doing it. Anybody that has willingly taken that first step and joined a gym should be motivated and encouraged. It's not a place just for the really fit. I've dealt with the yo yo dieting and the tears in the dressing room so I got my personal trainer certification through ACE and, am currently working on my fitness nutrition certification,so I could help others dealing with the same issues. I also plan on acquiring a Health Coach certification. My certification is relatively new but I've been working out and learning about fitness for over six years and I have a deep rooted passion for always knowing more.My education never stops. I also went to culinary school so I have a lot of knowledge about food/cooking and I think that makes me unique. I don't claim to know it all. I am constantly reading and learning. Fitness is my career and making a difference in people's lives is my passion. It's also my goal to get more women interested in lifting weights. If you're new to the fitness world and feeling a little overwhelmed or intimidated then contact me.
