A native of Venezuela she studied ballet at New York's Harkness School of Dance and performed on Broadway before crossing the Atlantic to take the stage at Berlin's Opera House. Ms. Fermin danced and choreographed in Germany for many years .Then switching careers, she earned certification from the German Society of Sports and Aerobics to become a fitness professional, and in addition earned certification in the Pilates Method. Her fitness passion is centered on Pilates Method and Functional Physical Movements.
As a Fitness manager she designed and developed highly effective progressive class schedules and descriptions, and well-rounded programs for people of all ages. In addition she pioneered the concept of Pilates Studio for the Park and Recreational Center, making Pilates Method accessible to the communities. In 2003 successfully she opened the first Pilates Studio at Providence RECenter, a facility of the Fairfax County Park Authority. Later on in 2008 she had the opportunity to open another Pilates Studio for Prince William county Park Authority at Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center.
Ms. Fermin works to develop individually balanced and optimized programs that reach different populations with all types of physical & developmental abilities and challenges. She encourages Trainers and Fitness staff to promote and inspire the benefits of fitness with the entire community. She organizes and hosts Fitness & wellness fairs, lectures, certifications, workshop clinic. To outreach inactive people, youth, older adults, special populations, families, and elite athletes is her mission.
She understands that every human body is unique, and feels that the most important aspect of a healthy lifestyle is to create a mind/body connection that will give true “mind over matter” power to fully take control of healthy ideals – regardless of the obstacles that may have blocked the way.
