Do you have any background in yoga? I couldn't tell from your profile. Although my family obligations have kept me from doing this sort of thing, there are tons of teachers i know who lead retreats all over. I know of one teacher from one of the studios where I teach who is leading one in Costa R...

You say you approached your town's park and rec. dept. for this. I would suggest looking to see if your town has a senior center, and what programs they offer. At our town these two functions come under different departments. The senior center offers a wide variety of programs. Actually the seni...

It is great to be able to give your clients/students something. It is a great way to say thank you, and to foster as well as honor the connections you have built. Giving services, such as your certificate for training, or the idea of massage, is also great. There is research that having more stu...

Does this person travel with an entourage or would it be just you and him? I agree with Karin and Natalie that it would give me pause.

I am vegan. I am thinking about the health coach certification but unsure about giving advice about animal protein

I agree with Natalie that if you do the Health Coach certification you need to look very carefully into scope of practice regarding how much nutritional advice you can give. Without a degree and licensure in nutrition this advice is likely to be fairly general. I think this gives you two options...

Natalie and Karin both have a point. Most of the places I have taught in the last decade want NCCA. But within that there are a number of options, and of those options ACSM was called the gold standard even back when I was certifying the first time in the early 90s. And ACE (with whom I certified...

Has anyone ever fired a difficult client and had them threaten to defame?

Trent's link was really interesting. I don't know whether you can have the lawyer write a letter before the person writes anything, that is, unless you have documented threats. Did they threaten this in an email, or in person? privately, or in front of people? Did you document her behavior o...

I had a teacher who once said 'A posture is a practice'. He was talking about yoga, but I think that is true of any sort of physical activity. While it is true that developing certain facets of fitness (say, endurance) requires longer sessions, I think if you are someone who would not otherwise ...
