Presenters Application
Application for IDEA Events
IDEA strives to create a unique learning environment for all delegates. Not only do they expect new and innovative programming, they come to broaden their knowledge, acquire new skills, and gain the professional edge they need to be more successful. IDEA meets these needs by selecting presenters who are dedicated to furthering the career path of the fitness professional. It is our goal to bring a well-chosen presenter faculty to each event, blending seasoned presenters with other qualified health and fitness educators.

Presenter Membership Requirement:
Every year, IDEA staff and Program Review Council members review the IDEA Presenter Guidelines to ensure the highest quality education. After careful consideration, IDEA will be enacting an additional presenter requirement, which will take effect on June 1, 2006. The requirement is as follows: ”In order to submit an application or be a presenter at an IDEA event, it will be required to be an IDEA member in good standing.”

Our mission to Inspire the World to Fitness® encourages change in people’s lives and provides an opportunity for fitness professionals to come together. This makes it necessary that all presenters be aligned with the goals and vision of IDEA and therefore be a member of our organization. Membership provides monthly publications, newsletter communications and much more. IDEA makes a difference in people’s lives by inspiring them to be healthier and live better lives. As presenters you are the people that help to make that happen.

As an IDEA member, you will see the moving effect of our mission. If you will be teaching or applying to teach at one of our events in 2007 and you are not a current IDEA member, we urge you to become part of our mission and join our organization by visiting us online at www.ideafit.com/membership

Candidate Review Process
Presenters/Programs are selected based on the recommendations made by the Program Review Council. This committee is composed of many fitness industry professionals with wide-ranging specialties. Some are veteran presenters. Others are non-presenters who are charged with looking at each candidate from the perspective of the delegate.

Selection Criteria
IDEA is interested in presentations that:

  • Provide more in-depth education on topics that have already appeared on other programs.
  • Encourage fitness professionals to approach fundamental topics from a new direction or perspective.
  • Contain practical "how-to" information.
  • Have interactive content or demonstration.
  • Directly address the needs of fitness and health professionals.
  • Are debuted for the first time at an IDEA event.
Based on the following criteria, presenters must:
  • Have the proper credentials to present each submitted topic.
  • Qualify to provide continuing education credits (if presenting a workshop or lecture).
  • Possess strong teaching skills pertinent to each topic.
  • Have the ability to effectively communicate concepts.
  • Introduce new, creative approaches to each topic, without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Have presentation experience in the topic area in which he/she is applying.
  • Present information that is suitable to the audience.
  • Possess a professional demeanor and appearance.
If Selected:
  • Presenter biographies and session descriptions will be edited for clarity and to fit space requirements.
  • IDEA pays presenters on a tiered compensation scale. All first-time presenters receive a complementary registration to the event only.
  • Each presenter will have an opportunity to promote and sell educational products at the Presenter Marketplace.
  • Presenters may make minor changes to the choreography from the time the video is submitted for approval to the time of the actual event. However, significant changes in choreography, class format, course description or course objectives are not permitted.
