I am an RN and recently took on a job doing a Balance Movement and Falls Prevention Class at a local Senior Friendship Center. I have 40 years nursing experience in Geriatrics and Rehab but am interested in taking more classes r\t this subject without it running into a huge amount of money since I am semi retired and taking care of an elderly father as well. Would appreciate any info.

I was excited to read about IFPA, because I don't need to have certification in PE to have this. I am an Inclusion Facilitator who supports children with special needs in day care settings. I want to help all children have the same chance to be healthy. This posting concerns me as now I am not sure what I would be getting with this certification. I would really like to hear from some faculty or management about this and hear more than how bad the person is who objects to IFPA.

I have an MA in Health Education and numerous national and state certifications. If every company who I have a certificate with believes that we will continue to throw money at them ever year or two to "keep up" even though they give us nothing in return, the're in a different world than we are.

Works for me! I'm a fitness manager and I use it for all my trainers to keep current and establish more credibility with our client base. We've used them for years with no problem.

From a personal perspective this definitely helped to alleviate lower back problems experienced in other indoor cycling classes. Also the PRE (perceived rate of exertion taught by C.O.R.E Certified Instructors helps each individual work at their personal level). Highly recommend.

I work in a small club and we don't have the space for group classes so a group fitness instructor has never been a goal - but after working with Christine and the group today I look forward to getting that certification first chance I get!

I had a CS facilitate my exam because there was a prob with my first test was not recorded the first time. I was mad-frustrated! The CS was helpful but what I do not understand is the thing about test results. Not getting an email confirmation afterwards. Why does it take too long to get a test result confirmation via email when you had already flashed it to your tester on the screen when they passed the test? and in the end screen, you also ask for the email address(?)and I never got the result ..so, what was the point?
just wondering.. no biggie ;)

I appreciate them as CEC providers and for being affordably priced. I wish they were more comprehensive in their exams, most especially because there is no practical component, but I realize that not all certifying organizations utilize written AND practical sections. The Senior Fitness cert was actually superior, IMO, to the Adv Pers Trainer cert, with regards to exercise selection, variations & modifications.

As a martial artist I was interested in injury prevention and NASM had all the answers.
Most certifications skip the most important phase, which is the stabilization endurance phase and because of that we allow the weights and the environment to control us.
Now that I both teach and personally use the NASM principles, I have remained injury free, stronger than ever and I have much more control over my environment. I am very happy with the results.

DS is the muscle's ability to hold a body segment or joint in place as well as in it's proper plane during an unstable situation (throwing, jumping, landing, acceleration and deceleration). In my 20+yrs as a Physical Therapist, Sports Conditioning Specialist and Certified Senior Strength Trainer, I found that DS is as important if not more than brute strength when it comes to the athlete. The stability of a limb/joint is key to injury prevention but as we all know, most exercise machines work on a single plane (Leg extension, squat racks, bench..etc). Though the machines add a sense of safety to the athlete, it lacks a key ingredient: MIMICKING THE SPORT OF THE ATHLETE. I can't expect a high jumper to jump higher by just his ability to kick out 150 lb. leg extensions 10 times. It's not the same! The War Machine®, I found, can mimic many if not most movement's when the sport is "broken down" into it's primary components due to it's ability to rotate. So for example, if I want my high jumper to increase his ability to jump I will incorporate a single leg squat jump (off the plant leg) w/ ERS (Extension, Rotation, Side Bending) motion while holding on the War Machine® handles. Therefore, you are working on "safety" by training the athlete's proprioception as well as his power, strength and Dynamic Stability. It's an indispensable part of my rehabilitation and training program. I have you guys to thank for it. Keep up the good work and thanks for letting me tout your War Machine®."

The most multifunctional I have ever seen. As a gym owner, it is the best cost benefit tool I ever bought. And as a personal trainer I use it with clients alone or in combination with other equipment, but it is a must in evry workout with me. It is always useful to work on stability, balance and strenght of spine and joints. In our facility it is used by total beginners, seniors to profesinal athlets.
And about quality, I never need to wory about going something wrong, becouse materials used in Crosscore are highest quality and it will defenitly last for long time.
All 4 thumbs up for crosscore.

I'd been teaching small-group TRX classes since early 2009 so I was already a big fan of suspension and bodyweight training. The pulley action of the Crosscore intrigued me right away, so I bought one and tried it out in my classes.
Things that we noticed right away were that:
(a) If you put the pin in the pulley to reduce the pulley's movement, you basically have a TRX. This is good for people who are transitioning from the TRX to the Crosscore or have never used either and need to start with a little more stability.
(b) Once you pull the pin on the pulley of the Crosscore and allow the pulley to rotate freely, it's a whole new ballgame! Even the exercises that are so familiar with the old TRX are more challenging with the Crosscore because you have to push/pull evenly with both sides of your body evenly or you'll sway to one side - instant feedback! Just stabilizing against rotation is a challenge.
(c) Unilateral exercise and assessment. The pulley of the Crosscore makes unilateral exercise simple to teach/do. Once I place a client's feet, I can have them do reps R, L, R, L, R, L on an exercise and any imbalances they have become apparent immediately if they sail through one arm and then struggle on the other arm. That makes the Crosscore a fantastic tool for assessment.
(d) More versatile. I can do anything with my Crosscores that I did with my TRX's. PLUS, the Crosscore converts to a cable machine by hooking a kettlebell to one end and pulling on the other handle. More options, instantly.
Within two months of purchasing my first War Machine, I purchased five more, fully replacing my TRXs. Neither I nor my clients have ever looked back.
Founder Brendan and his team are top-notch.

Great product. Use it 3 days a week in my garage with better results than I ever got pushing around weights in the gym. It actually made me more atheletic on the basketball court as well.
