| Overweight
and Obesity Rates Increase for Men and Children >> |

The U.S. Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released new data
on the number of overweight and obese Americans and it’s
not looking good, especially for men, children and adolescents.
Between 1999 and 2004, the prevalence of obesity among men
increased from 27.5% to 31.1%, while the number of overweight
men increased from 67.2% to 70.8%. In that same 6-year period,
the number of overweight children increased from 13.9% to
17.1%. There’s a glimmer of hope for women: the number
of overweight or obese women has held steady at 62% and 33%
respectively. “Women have always been more responsible
about health than the general population,” said William
