Meet Some Outstanding Members!
Shinji Nakamura
Tokyo, Japan
Member Since 1997
Fitness instructor and industrial designer Shinji Nakamura
believes that understanding a client’s hopes and
values is the first principle of successful programming.
“Second, I consider how to [help clients] achieve
[their goals] and [how to best apply] my skill and knowledge,”
says Shinji. “Third, I think whether I should
be in charge of teaching the client or ask my fellow
instructor to teach the client.” When Shinji is
not in the studio teaching Pilates, tai chi, yoga or
kung fu, he is in his factory designing new fitness
gear. “Fitness often teaches me that to live is
to learn and that the power to live is based on communicating
with people and coming across new challenges.”
Barbara Queen
Chicago, Illinois
Member Since 2003
“There are so many people who desperately need
our services,” says personal trainer and facility
owner Barbara Queen. “It gives me great satisfaction
to help [clients] work toward a pain-free life.”
Barbara doesn’t just train her clients; she is
committed to their overall well-being. She accompanies
them grocery shopping, takes them to the waterfront
for varied activities and attempts to involve each client
in an appropriate athletic event. “The sense of
accomplishment they get from successfully completing
an activity they were once intimidated by is tremendous!”
she says.
