| Podcasting: The New Stealth Marketing Tool>> |
|
By Joe Dysart
If you have been thinking of adding a podcast to your website for promotional purposes but have been put off by the learning curve involved, fear not. These days, posting Web audio in the form of an easily downloadable podcast is as effortless as making a phone call.
A company offering this new service is Gabcast™ (www.gabcast.com), which makes adding a podcast to the Web as simple as calling an 800 number, speaking into your phone and pushing the pound (#) button. Within seconds, Gabcast grabs your audio and posts your resulting podcast to its site. The posting even comes complete with a website address that you can cut and paste onto your own site—or into any e-mail.

Teaching Reformer to First-Timers>> |
| By PJ O'Clair
Introducing a new piece of equipment into a workout can be intimidating for a regular client and doubly so for a first timer. The same holds true for the Pilates reformer. With its pulleys, gears, footbars and springs, it’s essential that the instructor demystify the reformer while educating clients on its versatility and efficiency. Although to the uninitiated it may look like some modern torture device, it’s up to you to educate them on its many benefits.

|
By By Peggy Gregor
Regardless of their locale, schedule or member profile, group exercise programs share one thing in common: the diva factor. The “diva” instructor is one of the most difficult to manage. She presents herself as “untouchable” and doesn’t see the big picture. She refuses to uphold the mission of the program or club and is far from being a supportive team player. She sees just one piece of the puzzle—the people who attend her classes. As a program director, you understand the value in keeping classes full of enthusiastic participants. However, in efforts to keep numbers up, you may overlook a diva’s bad behavior.
