Peter Davis
Publisher and CEO
Peter’s knowledge in business, strategic planning, sales, marketing and financing, and the longstanding relationships he holds with manufacturers has facilitated the
skyrocketing growth of IDEA. Peter has received honorable mention from prominent organizations:
- Co-founder and past president of American Council on Exercise (formerly the IDEA foundation)
- Served on the executive board of the San Diego International Sports Council
- Former president of the San Diego International Sports Foundation
- Received the Lifetime Achievement Award from ECA World Fitness Alliance
- 2007 honoree of the Wellness Revolution Hall of Fame
And he oversees all IDEA products and services:
Peter received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from San Diego State University in 1980. In 1981 and 1982, he was awarded Coach of the Year honors as coach of the
University of California San Diego (UCSD) men’s tennis team.
Peter remains quite active as a tennis player, golfer and runner. He and his wife Kathie have two children, Jason age 24 and Kelli age 20.

Recognized as a leading authority on fitness-related information, Kathie is frequently interviewed by international and national news outlets. She has appeared on national
television, including NBC’s Today Show, and has been profiled in various newspapers and magazines, including USA Today, Shape and San Diego magazines.
Kathie's many accomplishments include:
- Co-founder and past vice president of the American Council on Exercise (formerly the IDEA foundation)
- Special advisor to the California Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports
- Serves on the board of advisors of Fitness and Vitality magazines
- Contributing writer for a number of industry publications
- Served on the advisory board for the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts at San Diego State University (SDSU)
- Received the Lifetime Achievement Award from ECA World Fitness Alliance
- Chosen as one of 10 Healthy American Fitness Leaders by the National Fitness Leaders Association and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 1996
- 2007 honoree of the Wellness Revolution Hall of Fame
Kathie received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physical Education from San Diego State University in 1979 and was awarded its Distinguished Alumni of the Year in 1993. Kathie,
having taught group exercise for 10 years, maintains an active personal fitness program while visiting various fitness facilities around the country.
