Learning Objectives

  1. Identify proximal range of motion and activation changes due to distal self-massage application with test/retest.
  2. Differentiate anatomical areas of the feet and ankles and locate “body blind spots” in the feet.
  3. Explore the fascial relationship between the thumb and neck through self-massage and describe obstacles in daily life that clients encounter within this fascial relationship.
  4. Compare range of motion in the neck before and after platysma massage.
  5. Identify stress levels (e.g., sympathetic versus parasympathetic) prior to and after rolling.
  6. Explain the beneficial connection between self-massage and motor control.
