Description

All movement starts from the core and its strength and stability are critical to athletic performance. In this workshop, we will combine vertical and horizontal exercises and show how you can help your athletic clients improve their performance. Trainers will learn 30+ versatile exercises done on one or two feet, on and off the floor, with and without equipment, as well as with and without partners. Learning Objectives

  1. Identify which muscles and body parts comprise the core.
  2. Describe how the core is used in movement and how all movements emanate from the core to the arms, legs and upper body.
  3. Implement actions to prevent injury and improve performance through lifting techniques, improving core function and proper neutral spine loading.
  4. Organize a tool box of horizontal and vertical core training exercises to use with clients.
  5. Describe the matrix that allows clients to have movement in all planes of motion.
  6. Categorize exercises according to vertical, horizontal, single/double leg, pelvic stability and power movements.

My passion is working with hockey players to improve their skating performance. I do this with on-ice and off-ice training. I work with male and female players 8 yrs old to pro players. Another passion of mine is presenting at fitness shows. In particular IDEA shows - IDEA World and IDEA PT East & West. IDEA is a remarkable organization lead by two remarkable people - Peter and Kathie Davis. I love playing ice hockey, x-c-skiing, mt biking, and being in the mountains. Also love all water sports especially surfing and body boarding. Also one of my favorite things to do is taking my dog, Bailey (Black Lab) for trail runs, swimming, and just walking.
