Recovery nutrition is a vital component for athletes and active individuals. Carbohydrates and protein post-exercise do play a key role, but there are several other nutritional strategies that provide benefits for reducing exercise-associated muscle damage and inflammation, decreasing muscle soreness, regaining full muscle function in the days after very strenuous exercise, and improving rest and sleep.
