Take the Challenge!
We are just 5 or 6 weeks away from seeing many of you at the IDEA World Fitness Convention™ in Los Angeles (August 11–14). There are so many great things in store for this year’s attendees—from our signature original programming and a jam-packed Fitness & Wellness Expo to parties/networking events and all the great attractions Los Angeles has to offer—that it’s sure to be a fun and fantastic experience.
The theme of the convention is TAKE THE CHALLENGE! and it will come to life during the event with unique challenges issued in every educational session throughout the weekend. Presenters will award an IDEA medal to one delegate per session in one of three categories: inspirational, physical or mental. Besides a medal, each Challenge Award winner will receive recognition in the G Series Fit Arena (in the Expo Hall); the opportunity to be in a group photo of Challenge Award winners (from each day), to appear in IDEA Fitness Journal; a “Challenge Award Winner” badge sticker; and a chance to win prizes (such as free registration to next year’s event!). To find out more about the challenges and to register for the event, go to www.ideafit.com/conference/idea-world-fitness-convention-2011.
Although we get to see many of you at our events throughout the year, we know not everyone can attend. We recognize that a big bonus of attending is connecting with a community of colleagues who understand your challenges and who can help you with them. Now we also have a wonderful new way of bringing the professional community to you. Launched in May, IDEA Answers—www.ideafit.com/answers—is a real-time question-and-answer feature that gives all site visitors access to the collective wisdom and experience of the entire industry.
Are you wondering about specializing in kids’ fitness or how to avoid career burnout? Do you want to know how your colleagues cope with a problem client or employee? Simply plug your question into IDEA Answers and get a lot of free advice about it or about any industry topic from your colleagues on the front lines. All answers get tagged with keywords, so if your question has already been asked, the answer and any conversation thread about it will pop up immediately from the archive—and you won’t have to wait for an answer. Our dream for IDEA Answers is to create a global fitness tribe and stoke the conversation about inspiring the world to fitness. Ask a question or provide an answer—it’s that simple!
In closing, we want to point out that this double issue is our annual “all features” extravaganza, which goes in-depth on industry issues at large and on career-building considerations for all. We will return to our regular mixed format of columns and features with the September issue. In the meantime, we invite your feedback (email@example.com) on how we can make this publication more valuable to you.
Yours in health,
Kathie and Peter Davis
