New Positive Resource for Kids
We Can! (Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity & Nutrition) is a new national program designed to be a one-stop Internet resource for parents and other caregivers who want to help children maintain a healthy weight. Created by several agencies under the auspices of the National Institutes of Health, the program offers online tips and fun activities that focus on improving kids’ food choices; increasing physical activity levels; and reducing the amount of time children spend watching television or playing computer games. Included are suggestions on proper portion control, parent-child games and ways to become more active in the community.
Visit the We Can! website at www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/ public/heart/obesity/wecan to download the free parent handbook that is part of the program.
