In February, to increase awareness of the importance of healthful living, the state of Maryland held its Second Annual Healthy Maryland Day. The event, hosted by Governor Martin O’Malley, is an initiative developed by the Coalition for a Healthy Maryland. The Coalition includes businesses, fitness facilities, insurers, nonprofit organizations and individuals interested in improving the state’s health. As explained in a press release, “Promoting the message of prevention, the Coalition assembles and proposes legislation offering Maryland residents incentives for leading a healthy lifestyle.” To learn more about this organization and Healthy Maryland Day, visit www.cfahm.org.
