Keeping It Kosher
Did you know that you can substitute plain old table salt when a recipe calls for kosher salt? Simply use about half as much table salt for the amount of kosher salt cited in the recipe. Kosher salt is coarser grained and not packed as firmly as table salt, so the same amount doesn’t taste as salty.
