Is Your IDEA FitnessConnect Profile Working for You?
For almost 30 years, IDEA has operated on the premise that trained, certified professionals are key to helping individuals get positive results, remain highly engaged and become “inspired to fitness.” The August 2010 launch of IDEA FitnessConnect, our free online fitness directory, delivered the power of this philosophy right into your hands.
IDEA FitnessConnect’s expansion—in users and tools—has been remarkable! Less than 2 years ago, it listed 130,000 professional profiles and verified the certifications of just 13 nationally accredited organizations. Now, the directory connects 16 million consumers with more than 250,000 professionals and verifies more than 100 certifications and training programs (including all of the certifications accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies). We expect to have more than 150 verification partners by the end of the year. Beyond the numbers, IDEA FitnessConnect helps fitness professionals, clubs and organizations coordinate their efforts to reach out, inform and serve consumers.
With its numerous tools, IDEA FitnessConnect allows fitness professionals to highlight their certifications and trainings, promote their skill sets and amplify their industry expertise for current and future clients. We’re not only providing a way for fitness-minded people to find fitness professionals—we’re providing them with a trustworthy way to find the right professionals.
One of the most popular IDEA FitnessConnect tools is the Client Newsletter, a customizable e-newsletter that pros can brand each month with their own logo and message to create another point of touch with their customers. The best part? You can have full confidence in the content, as it is a mix of IDEA’s award-winning content, vetted and hand-selected by our editors. In January, we sent over 58,000 newsletters. To get started, activate your fully automated and customizable newsletter on the Quick Links section on your profile page (www.ideafit.com/fitnessconnect/signup/pro).
IDEA FitnessConnect will dramatically change your productivity and your professional profile with customers. If you have not yet taken advantage of this free tool, we urge you to check it out today: www.ideafit.com/fitnessconnect.
Last month we told you about our partnership with the Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF) and our pledge to raise $10,000 from the IDEA fitness community (which IDEA will match for a total contribution of $20,000) to pay for a new prosthetic limb that would be presented to a challenged athlete at the 2012 IDEA World Fitness Convention™ Opening Ceremonies. This month, we’d like to introduce you to the athlete for whom we’ll be fundraising!
Timur Normatov is a 9-year-old boy who lives with his family in Parkent, Uzbekistan. His American sponsor found Timur, who has congenital above-knee leg loss, when he was just a few months old in an orphanage for children with disabilities. In 2005 his birth parents were found, and he was reunited with them. He had been given up at birth because of his leg defect, and doctors had actually told his parents he had died. In 2006, Timur came to California for limb revision surgery and his first-ever prosthetic. He will travel here again this summer for more help. “He is a uniquely amazing child,” says Desireé Lesicko, his U.S. sponsor.
On his application, Timur stated his motivation for wanting a running leg: “I want to play with the other kids and be able to run. I like to run, but all the time I fall down. Other children laugh at me, and I want to show them I can run. When I grow up, I want to be a doctor.”
How you can make a difference. Help make Timur’s dream of running and playing with other kids come true by assisting us in raising the funds that will change his life. Perhaps you’d like to organize a fundraiser in your studio or facility and rally your community for this worthy cause? You can also simply send your tax-deductible contribution, via check payable to the Challenged Athletes Foundation, to IDEA Health & Fitness Association, Attn. CAF, 10455 Pacific Center Ct., San Diego, CA 92121.
Yours in health,
Kathie & Peter Davis
